Obituary;Mick Yarrow Original Wellington Budokan

YARROW, Philip William (Mick). Passed away peacefully at home on 13 June 2012, aged 81 years. Dearly loved husband of Barbara and loved father of Philip, Alison and Ian. A much loved grandfather to Sarah and great-grandfather to Riley.
Mick YARROW was a member of the old Wellington school of hard knocks Budokan and trained with the likes of Pat Toner,Johnny Burke,Dave Delay, and Graeme Roberts .
In the 1996 Oceania championships in Sydney Mick won a bronze.
Always a hard man to fight as he was short ,stocky and powerful.Based in Wellington in later life he went to Nelson to establish a muscle farm .
Party man
Mick who only had one eye as the other was a glass would take it out and casually clean it as if it was something he always did.
I last saw Mick at Pat Toner 80th birthday in Wellington 2 years ago.

  1. Mick, a tough liverpudlian who beat up his tenants when due rent wasn't paid on his investment properties. Rest in peace.

  2. Pity NZ Judo web site doesn't acknowledge the passing of these past Judo men who have contributed greatly to the history of Judo in New Zealand
