Judo.Daniel Gowing Olympian twice, Auckand Uni Judo Club member dies suddenly.

Daniel started is judo in Wellsford North at a young age and then with his parents moved to Ponsonby Auckland.
He joined Uni judo club as a young 15yr old and despite be bullied and tormented  he hung in there to extract treble and more,revenge against the same members in later life.
The Auckland uni judo club sent him to kyoto for judo when being poor and doing judo was part and parcel of judo.
We visited him in kyoto once and his 6 mat was clean but sparse.
He followed this experience with 4/5 years in Germany fighting in the Bunsder league which he said was not a very nice experience .
Two stints to the olympic games and it was back to London where he worked as Electrical Engineer before  coming back to Auckland.

GOWING, Daniel. Died in Auckland aged 45. Dearly loved son of Michael and the late Maggie, and brother of Luke, Hannah and Rose, uncle of Harriet and Joshua, and brother-in-law of Rachel. A celebration of Daniel's life will be held at All Saints Chapel, Purewa Crematorium, 100-102 St Johns Road, Meadowbank on Friday 24 March at 12 noon. -
