Judoka We Like: Lee Calder

Lee Calder was on the mat again on Monday night. Sensei Rick was heard hollering: “fight harder Lee or we will put you on youtube again! … Stand up straight ... he’ll throw you ... where did you learn Judo…etc…etc...” Sensei neglected to mention that Lee’s was fighting someone who was once world ranked, 20+ kgs heavier, and several dan grades higher. Nonetheless, it has been great to have a fighter of Lee’s calibre on the mat. Everyone has enjoyed the chance to play with a fighter who has such a well developed ground and standing game. 


University Judo extends a standing invitation to Judoka from all clubs to come and visit. We train Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Despite the rumours we are a friendly club and we DO have a beer fridge (with icey cold Gizzy gold, sake, and Ginger Beer) mat-side.
