OJU Results: Random Reflections on NZ's Mighty Defeat of Tiny Pacific Nations (and Losing (Heavily) to Australia)

1. NZ improved its position in the Pacific, going from 5th place; after Fiji, New Caledonia, and French Polynesia, to 2nd place. Australia, however, managed to win 10 gold, 10 silver and 3 bronzes. This would appear to indicate that Australia has something that NZ judo lacks--depth. Who are the coaches and high grade development officers? Can they keep their little sinacures? Or are they all NZ has?

2. After looking at some of the ages of the NZ representatives, it would appear that an age maximum must implemented. Based on a survey of the local judo scene and the talent available we believe that the maximum should be set at 60 yrs old.

3. It is advised all VIP judo NZ officials start getting use to the Australian nation anthem as its going to be played a lot more in the future.
