Takata Katsuyoshi Kodokan 9th Dan Judo Sensei

I 1st met Takata Sensei when I went to Japan in 1965 for what was suppose to be a six month stint to get my black belt which had been denied to me back in N.Z. due to politics.
Takata Sensei was an old style Kodokan judo sensei who trained every day, throwing many including me with his trade make hanegoshi.
He was famous for spotting errant foreigners sitting up in the gallery with their feet on the railing in front and shouting for all to hear that they should take their feet off .
In 1972 when l moved to Tokyo for business reasons l had the chance to practice with Takata Sensei nearly everyday and by not using strength to resist was thrown nearly everyday until one day Sensei said 'Littlewood san I can no longer throw you"
Sensei ;what do expect , you have been throw me for nearly 3 months and l now know your every move.
Takata Sensei , thank you,you  had a big influence on my tachiwaza judo.
Takata Sensei had this style and ability to use/take the opponents movement and strength  to their disadvantage.[see the video above]
He was also one of the leading Kodokan experts on judo kata
More video clips can be seen on youtube under Takata Katsuyoshi, judo
Takata Sensei died 3/4 years ago still doing judo to the end .
