of legal and illegal throws. teuchimata, kata guruma etc.and the 1st 3 sets of nage no kata.
Both passed although it could have been better. But we must remember this only for brown belt not black belt.
The fault lies with their sensei , me! who due to other pressing issues of health was unable to teach and correct before hand. Gomen ne! I,m now off rat poison injections , just taking reduced amounts of rat pills.
Remember guys , no grading fee no grade.
Grading certificates from previous gradings we handed out to Paul Wood ,Rei Yamamoto, Chris Pemberton Ben Uy etc.
Thanks goes to Craige Bartlet from Howick judo who got off the Parmie plane and came straight to help.We found out that craige like Moa IPA lots of it in fact.
It is the the Uni judo club custom of those have birthdays, get married, have kids, getting graded, getting to selected to represent nz to bring a case of good quality beer to celibrate which Tim did on monday,
and Chris and Paul did last night.
thanks guys
Sensei breaks fast with i small btl of ipa moa.
Sensei not wanting to look like dave brown 130kg,bill vincent 140kg or jim mcphee 150kg has been on a see no beer, drink not beer for three weeks and has lost 5kg and now weighs 91kg with two kilo to go.
Tim Slyfield nz open and silver medalist Oceania judo champion was picked this week to represent nz at the commonwealth games in july.
Tim at 39 yrs will be the oldest judoka competing and will be fighting aussie and poms who are old enough to be his sons.
Drug testing will done at games so maybe at the same time they can do a D.N.A. as well.
Tim was not at judo last night as he had to do some bar table propping, this can be hard on the elbows
and sometimes leads to tennis elbow.
Any judo master from the uni judo club who is picked to represent nz is given a grant, with usual conditions, we are proud to say that Tim gets $1500 to help his training at the Budokwai London.
Tim also gets to take the family to Edinburgh instead of Hawaii which was the plan if he failed to make the team.
Rob Levy judo nz national coach who has worked hard on these games gets to go as coach manager.
Well done Rob, you dont have to join the nz navy after all.[rob too has been in hospital for a minor op.
other news.
Detective senior sgt Craig green belt has been posted to the solomon islands for a year.Poor natives, craige did all his training in west auckland.Although might not be that bad as the pidgin english spoken in the solomon is very similar to that out in west auckland.

Hello Rick,
I hope you are doing well, finally my wife and I have got settled in in St Heliers it was a very hard work because we've moved our whole home, our think is to live in NZ for a long long time. We think it's an amazing place to live, we have rented a nice apartment nearly in front of the sea, we have always want to live in front of the sea and in NZ we've been able to fulfill our dream, we're really happy about it. I'm really looking forward to starting training Judo with you all, as this month I'm getting in touch with advertising agencies, visual studios and recruiters to look for job as a Senior Graphic Designer, if you agree I would like to go to the gym to start next month. Please kindly advise me what would be the best time to go and meet us and also if I should carry along any documentation about my Judo grade. Thanks a lot in advance and see you soon.
Warm Regards,
Jose Lopez
