Judokong looks at solutions for a declining Secondary schools judo championships

One upon a time , many years ago the high lite of the judo calendar was the N.Z. High school judo championships.
But not any more .
The numbers travelling to the championships have diminish every year as have the areas who wish to hold this important event.
Judo n.z. Has no interest in running and if  it was not the Waikato Bay of Plenty judo association who are quite happy to run this important event for the future of nz judo it would have disappeared off the judo map.
Part of the problem lies in the organisation.
It's called the n.z.secondary school championships but interested judoka can only enter thru a club and not thru theirs school.
Interested judoka must also be members of  judo nz $61.00 be a yellow belt and above $35.00 per grade, pay travel and accommodation.
These championships should be used to talent scout future judo champions and encourage teenage friendships.
Why not make the championships free and waver the requirement to a member of judo nz?
Encourage entries from schools and not clubs .
The present system takes entries from clubs but shows the results as from schools
