Judo . Who said judo shiai,s were easy in Osaka ?

Today's shiai aka the Osaka winter red and white Kohaku

Well I was feeling good when I arrived at the Osaka Kodokan today for the Kohaku shiai. I looked around and was surrounded by a bunch of people my size. That feeling quickly disappeared when I found out that 'my group' fights the bigger guys opposite us. I'm seventh in our side so I get to watch a few fights before I'm up. Some guys come close but nobody manages to get the magic five wins until...

I'm up and the guy I'm up against just stopped someone from winning his fifth fight. He about six foot tall and maybe 110kg. Lucky me. I think he laughed when he saw me! He let me get a grip and break his a few times before deciding to somehow crunch my tricep so I had to let go and threw me with Harai goshi which I didn't think was ippon but it was bloody hard. I wait around to see how many he wins - thirteen!! Half of those were nidans. He finally loses to a guy from Tenri.

Normally that 13 win shodan would be graded to sandan
