In putting our plans together, the minimum acceptable standards have been government requirements - there are numerous areas where we have chosen to extend beyond these requirements.
There is a ‘limited numbers’ training session this Wednesday (only, after this the rules relax) - all participants have been notified (we can only have 10 on the mat incl coach).
From Friday, things move a big step forward, with the '10 only’ limits being extended - to whatever we can manage safely.
- Initially, Monday and Wednesday training will only be for orange belt’s and above / Igor’s Friday classes will be for all levels / Ben’s Saturday class will welcome all, but have a focus on beginners.
Fees will restart on 1 June… credit for $$$ paid over COVID-19 period are being arranged by STU (junior club fees will start approx 19 July for term 3). FEES WILL BE PAID BY CREDIT CARD INTO HELLOCLUB…. feel free to talk to STU.
A few Uni Judo - Covid-19 Protocols (thanks Ben)… more detail to come (via HelloClub/Stu)
- Change into your gi before you get to the dojo.
- Changing rooms and shower will be closed so bring only your phone, keys and a towel and try to go to the toilet before coming to the dojo. If you must use the bathroom, you must be the one to clean it.
- Wait in your car until a coach opens the main door.
- You must log in using HelloClub, there will be a laptop, but if you log into HelloClub on your phone and scan the QR code - it is easier and faster to check in. First time back, you will also need to fill in a questionnaire.
- As you enter, sanitise your hands and register your attendance at the laptop set up at the front of the club.
- Only registered members are allowed (this is to help us with contact tracing).
- Anyone showing symptoms will be sent home.
- Rashguards or long sleeved shirts are compulsory.
- Stay with only 1 or 2 training partners per session
- Be prepared to help with cleaning and sanitation a
fter training - Be kind. We'll get back to normal eventually.
Don’t be a muppet… a few great hints
- Coaches decision on all health and Safety matters is final - if in doubt, walk out of the club; and keep on walking… we are happy to debate things remotely, once you are not endangering anyone else (0% tolerance for dummies)
- Don’t come in if you are ill; been around anyone ill; in self isolation etc, etc, etc.. do not create risk!
- Do not socialise outside the club before or after training - feel free to go to the pub together afterwards.
- This is new for us - help us to follow the regulations and we are all there because we love judo and want to train safely.
Finally… some thank you’s…
- Thanks to the coaching team that met tonight to finalise protocols; learn our new COVID tracing and safety systems etc… Stu, Fern, Ray; Garth; Igor; Jaimie; Aly; Quentin; Ben…. so grateful for your time and combined wisdom
- Stu and Fern for the amazing work digitising our membership system so we could contact trace and run a better club; the awesome work within the dojo etc, etc, etc / thanks too, to our Facilities Manager Igor - thanks to Fern; Stu; Igor’s work the club is looking cleaner and better than ever - the physical operation of the club will be so much easier under COVID-19 protocols because of the amazing pre-work from these three amazing club members
- Ben who is forever looking after our club’s presence online and driving comms and social media - and doing sooo much more (Maz… thx for your social media contribution over COVID-19 as well)
- Judo New Zealand has given us spectacular guidance; operational templates; communication templates; posters for communication (anyone who wonders why we pay rego, this is just one great reason)
- Back to Stu, who look JNZ’s templates and made them work for our club - for the many ‘sanitising’ purchases etc; etc; etc …As I type, I suspect Stu is still at the club building cubbyholes; shoe racks etc - No Stu, and we would not even be able to step foot in the club… thanks so much!
- Chis - quietly and safely looking after the interests of the club ‘fatties’ (also, are thoughts are with you with you Dad passing)
- Also a quick shoutout to Auckland President - Johan Boshoff, Johan and his team have continued to drive planning and preparation (to make AKL JUDO even better)… throughout this challenging period - Johan’s team is determined to make 2020 a great year for Auckland Judo, and COVID-19 has definitely not beaten them!
- and all of you for your patience - it has been great to see so many of you at Saturday outdoor training.
As promised above, you will be getting detailed coms via HelloClub from Stu - if you are not on HelloClub, you will not be entering the Dojo… our members safety and that of all kiwis is too important to risk (any issues, you should have contacted Stu).
Warmest regards
Robert Levy
President
