Can you Enjoy Judo in your 30s?

The injuries take longer to heal but the answer is still yes. The club is currently witnessing a renaissance of Masters level Judo. Rob Levy, Tim Slyfield, and Ben Stallworthy are all putting in good time on the mat. There is also a committed number of social/competitive players of a (slightly) lesser calibre. In sum, there has never been a better time at the club for 30-something has-beens or come-back candidates. As Andrew Pragnel, a once-promising Judoka now staring down the barrel of mortgages and being confined to an infirmary, said recently, “why not?”  There is a solid base of instruction, a good culture of hard training (but fair and without nonsense), and the glimmer of a challenge. Sensei Rick won a NZ title at 40. The guy in the image below is also putting in a good innings.
