Don Mackay who was one of the founders of the Wanganui Judo Club died in New Plymouth last Wednesdayat the age of 75.Don would travel to Wellington every weekend to practice with the Wellington Budokan run by Pat Toner,Johnny Burke and Dave Delay before moving up to Auckland for work reasons to join Judokai 1948 inc .In 1970 Don got the Judoka of the year for his resilience in judo as he just kept hammering away. For ten years 1972-1982 before moving to New Plymouth he was a regular judoka at judokai. His dry humour and wit will be missed by his many judo friends.The judo contingent was lead by Rick littlewood,Pat Toner, Jim Mcphee,Wayne Watson and Snoopy Culling.
