Day one saw the N.Z.Masters team in Tokyo win one gold Alan Green retain his gold
, Vitali gold medalist last year got silver after losing to Katayama San Beijing Olympic representives
Everybody else fought well
Ron Williams Dunedin lost of penalties after stepping out twice .
Khan Townsend Paley lose on decision after losing to a yondan
Professor. Stu Michell shodan lose by decision against a strong 5th dan .
Unfortunately the I.J.F rules were applied loosely which saw many losing to hansokumake for touching the leg , how stupid this rule is especially for masters
Day two is the team fights which should be interesting .
Last year with only four judoka the N.Z.advanced into the third round before losing in a replay.
This year with Sensei Rick unable to enter due to a cardioversion last week we have enlisted the help of a Japanese 75 yr old Sensei to fight for us .
He's the same Sensei which Sensei Rick beat in the teams shiai last year.
After the shiai yesterday was the Masters party where the food and drinks flowed freely.
Five lovely kimono dressed Japanese ladies performed a tradition dance ,called Awadori and them went among the masters and did the same encouraging everybody to dance which they did.
This was followed by a enthusiastic n.z. Haka performed by Professor Stu.
Today is another day.
