The Rick Littlewood Open was a bloody good day. In the morning Big Judo brought a big group of kids over to the University Dojo where they had a 'fun day' finishing with a 'batsugan' competition.
A nice photo of the Big Judo kids, Ben and Rick. Ben started training more than 30 years ago with Rick when he was about the age of the oldest kids in this photo.
I'm sure deep down in Rick there must be some satisfaction seeing a new generation learning the style of Judo he brought back from Japan. We need to encourage more people to start coaching as they give up competing because it is very satisfying personally and grows Judo.
The Big Judo Seniors were a bit less impressive. Even though we get good numbers at training and turned up 'in force' we freely admit that we are mostly either too old or too new to Judo to be competitive so the majority of us decided that discretion was the better part of valor and we drank beer, sledged from the sideline and ate as much food as we could.
