Friday nights judo degerated in to a serious Nage no Kata class

As only a few turned up for Fridays class some did technique but most did nage no kata .

Due to judo n.z. rules and lack of shiai chances it much easier to get points for your next black belt by doing kata .

Last Wednesday Chan passed his blue test by embarrising the examiners by demonstrating waza far in excess of what was required of him .

Kane White and Marin Sunovcic both passed brown belts after performing a creditable kata and waza exam.

Under the judo n.z. grading system which is very weird there needs to be 2 nidans and above but not from the same club to be able to grade to brown belt. 

It is a well estabished judo custom that births, deaths.retirements,marriages,and gradings are celebrated with a few biers after training.Stoke,Moa etc

Thanks to Kane and Marin for the craft biers which tasted good after such hard work  teaching kata.

A Uni judo partry will be held at Tanuki Japanese sake bar next Sunday from 6.pm , all welcome .

Thomas Renoult has gone back to Parii but will be in Japan from oct to enter the kodokan red and white shiai.
