Wednesday
night at University Judo featured a surprise visit from former member Professor
Paul Wood. Living in Wellington, he'll regularly make an effort to pop by our
dojo if he knows he'll be in Auckland until the evening (often with varying
degrees of fitness).
Paul's words post-training:
"It was so
much fun training with the old gang at Auckland University Judo (Judo Kong)
last night. For me Judo is a form of active meditation - thoughts of the past
or future are absent and I’m genuinely present for the experience of life as it
occurs. In my emotional fitness workshops I like to get participants thinking
about the active ways in which they can be more present as mindfulness isn’t
all about sitting quietly with crossed legs!"
Couldn't agree more Paul. Nothing like having the urgency of protecting your limbs to keep you mindful :)
