| The testing ground—Mount Maunganui, NEW ZEALAND. |
University Judo & BJJ have begun exploring the integration of higher-level waza and cross training requirements to the new, controversial brown belt (1st Kyu) syllabus. In addition to the Meiji era (now illegal) throws we are testing a new program that really tests a Judoka's balance and strength. Like true ninja's we require our brown belts to walk on water. Here, Dmitri can be seen pioneering the new initiative at Mount Maunganui. The conditions were testing—freezing cold water, a dynamic slippery surface etc.. However, we are pleased to announce that Dmitri passed with flying colors. The next set of grueling waza he will be required to pass (on route to brown belt) will be conducted in Roppongi, Tokyo under the watchful eye and tutelage of Master John Wayne.
